Can the heart forget?

Can you live with a broken heart?

This feeling inside will it ever leave?
Will it ever heal?
Can the heart forget?

I hope so cause the pain can be too much

How can we love with all our heart?
Yet know in our head its not wanted or needed.
Where is that switch inside our heart so we can turn the feelings off?
It must be there other people find it why can’t I.

A simple flick and numbness
That would be so nice
Cause the pain can be too much

It not self-pity or the need for others to feel pity for me.
It is just a simple request to turn that switch and move on.

To see and believe that love can work
That it does work.

There must be more to love then pain.
But for some reason that is all it has ever brought me.

Can it bring happiness, joy?
I have been told it can but I have never felt it.

So I sit back and wonder
Absorbing the pain for now
Can the heart forget?
